Mechanistic Insights into the Phase Separation Behavior and Pathway‐Directed Information Exchange in all‐DNA Droplets

Abstract Liquid‐liquid phase separation provides a versatile approach to fabricating cell‐mimicking coacervates. Recently, it was discovered that of single‐stranded DNA (ssDNA) allows for forming protocells and microgels in multicomponent systems. However, the mechanism ssDNA is not comprehensively understood. Here, we present mechanistic insights into metal‐dependent leverage this understanding straightforward formation all‐DNA droplets. Two temperatures are found correspond primary nuclei growth process. Ca 2+ irreversible , whereas Mg leads reversible separation. Capitalizing on these differences makes possible control information transfer one‐component droplets two‐component core–shell protocells.
